| Prof. P. Takis MathiopoulosIEEE Senior Member National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece P. Takis Mathiopoulos, Professor of Telecommunications at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece. He also held visiting faculty long term honorary academic appointments as Guest Professor at Southwest Jiao Tong University (SWJTU), Chengdu, China, and Guest (Global) Professor at Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. His research activities and contributions have dealt with wireless terrestrial and satellite communication systems and network as well as in remote sensing, LiDAR systems, and information technology, including blockchain systems. In these areas, he has coauthored some 160 journal papers published mainly in various IEEE journals, 1 book (edited), 5 book chapters, and more than 180 international conference papers. Dr. Mathiopoulos has been or currently serves on the editorial board of several archival journals, including the IET Communications as an Area Editor, the IEEE Transactions on Communications, the Remote Sensing Journal, and as Specialty Chief Editor for the Arial and Space Network Journal of Frontiers. From 2001 to 2014, he has served as a Greek Representative to high-level committees in the European Commission and the European Space Agency. He has been a member of the Technical Program Committees (TPC) for numerous IEEE and other international conferences and has served as TPC Vice Chair of several IEEE conferences. |
| Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitrios A. Karras received his Diploma and M.Sc. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece in 1985 and the Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, NTUA, Greece in 1995, with honors. During 1990-2004 he collaborated as visiting professor and researcher with several universities and research institutes in Greece and Heidelberg, Germany (DKFZ). During 2004-2018 he has been with the Sterea Hellas Institute of Technology, Automation Dept., Greece as assoc. prof. in Digital Systems and Signal Processing, as well as visiting prof. at Hellenic Open University, Dept. Informatics in Communication Systems (2002-2010). Since 1/2019 is Associate Prof. in Digital and Intelligent Systems & Signal Processing, in National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, School of Science, Dept. General (https://en.uoa.gr, dakarras@uoa.gr) as well as adjunct Assoc. He has published more than 94 research refereed journal papers in intelligent and distributed/multiagent systems, pattern recognition, image/signal processing and neural networks as well as in bioinformatics, more than 15 edited books in international publishers and more than 191 research papers in International refereed scientific Conferences. He has given more than 170 invited and keynote speeches at international conferences. His research interests span the fields of intelligent & distributed systems, complex systems and sustainability, multiagent systems, pattern recognition and computational intelligence, image & signal processing/systems, biomedical systems, communications and networking as well as security and sustainability applications. He has served as program committee member as well as program/general chair at many international peer reviewed conferences and workshops in signal, image, communications, and automation systems as well as he is serving as editor in chief and editorial board member in several peer reviewed journals.
